D'Eyncourt Primary School

AiM’s last morning at D’Eyncourt Primary School and we ran out of time to investigate the dark area found yesterday.  When the last two groups of children had been out they buried a time capsule before we backfilled.

We did, however, have a few minutes to look at a smaller dark patch from yesterday where there is a hint of a possibility of maybe a stake hole or small post having once been located here.

We knew that the local area is broadly clay; as is proved with the depth we managed to dig and it was still going.

Although this would explain the clay surface we will be going back to the school in a couple of weeks to do a resistivity survey. The clay may well affect the results but we will do the survey anyway and see what happens.

Thank you to the Head Teacher for inviting us into the school, (and for the lady who recommended us) it has been a pleasure to do this dig.
