Northycote Farm

The trench containing a lot of water and resembling yet another plunge pool, (we had this situation last winter too, although this one looks more like a lane in a swimming pool) had to be bailed out this morning before we could dig any more out. Surprisingly, once the water and surface mud was out, we managed to get down to 50cm depth.

We were beginning to think that the resistivity had just picked up the natural variations rather than archaeology but, as always at the last minute, we came across a 'collection' of large stones which will be the starting point next week.
