After returning to our summer site we have been working on what appears to be a definite manmade clay feature. The feature has a 90o angled corner at the southern end and is made up of a smooth red clay. The remaining edges appear to be roughly circular and consist of clay and pebbles forming an upper layer over the lower smooth layer of clay. More work needs to be done on this area of interest.
Meanwhile just a short distance to the east of this feature another area of interest began to appear yesterday. It is too early to be sure but it appears there could be a pebbled path or possibly floor. Again, more work needs to be done to see what archaeology is actually there. Lots to dig for!
