Day 2

Day two and what have we found? 

Well, we dug out some of the concrete which came up in lumps as seen in the photograph – not that interesting you might think but when we turned it over look what was there.  Lots of pieces of pieces of iridescent glass bottles. 

The iridescence is caused by the glass being buried in slightly acidic soil which over time causes the salts in the glass to leach (drain away).  We also found more walls and a floor surface. 

Today it was years 4, 3 and 2 who came out to see what was happening on their field.  All the children sieved for finds and were keen to learn what the items were.
