Trench 3 was begun today, after a later than usual start due to Remembrance Services, and within the topsoil one rather good find was a complete clay pipe bowl. This pipe bowl appears to be a Broseley type 9a date range 1850/70. Due to the late start we have yet to establish if there is a clay layer as we found in trench 2 but we did find the same charcoal layer as found in trench 2. More digging required...
